Diagnostic Hearing Tests
Diagnostic hearing tests are a compilation of painless tests that will allow Dr. Klatt to determine the cause of your hearing loss so she can determine the best treatment plan for you.
A diagnostic hearing test includes the following components:
-
Otoscopy- visual inspection of your ear canal and eardrum to determine if there is excess earwax or physical abnormalities present
-
Tympanometry- evaluation of middle ear function by determining how well your eardrum is able to move
-
Pure tone testing- evaluation of your hearing sensitivity to pure tones of different pitches and loudness levels
-
Speech Threshold and Discrimination testing- evaluation of your ability to accurately distinguish words and sentences, both in quiet listening environments as well as with background noise present
Once your hearing test is complete, Dr. Klatt will go over your results and counsel you regarding any treatment recommendations that would be best suited for you.
Hearing Aid Evaluation & Fitting
A Hearing Aid evaluation is performed if it is found that you have a hearing loss and would be a good candidate for hearing aids. Dr. Klatt will discuss all available hearing aid options and will work with you to find the best option for your hearing loss and your lifestyle needs. Because we are an independent practice that is not tied to one specific hearing aid manufacturer, we are able to offer a wide array of hearing aid options to find the one that will best improve your quality of life. You will be able to demo the hearing aids in-office to experience what the hearing aids will sound like.
During the hearing aid fitting appointment, the hearing aids you and Dr. Klatt chose as the best fit for you, will be programmed for your specific hearing loss. She will show you how to insert and remove the hearing aids, how to clean them, as well as how to use any additional features your hearing aids may have - such as streaming from your iPhone and/or using the hearing aid charger. There is an adjustment period to wearing hearing aids (your brain has to re-adjust to hearing the sounds it has not been processing for some time) and we will check in with you often during your adjustment period to see how you are doing and see if any further programming adjustments are necessary. Dr. Klatt prides herself on her upstanding patient care and will ensure she is available to provide you with that excellent care her patients rave about - after all, we want you to be successful with your hearing aids so you can hear your favorite sounds again!
Tinnitus Assessment & Treatment
Tinnitus is commonly referred to as ringing in the ears however, it can also be perceived as a buzzing, beeping, hissing, or whistling sound. The most common cause of tinnitus is an underlying hearing loss however, there are also other causes of tinnitus. Dr. Klatt will provide a diagnostic hearing test along with tinnitus assessment to determine the cause of your tinnitus. She will then counsel you regarding your treatment options to help you get relief. If you have been told there is nothing that can be done to help with your tinnitus, give us a call - there are many options we have available that can help!
Custom Hearing Protection

Hearing Aid Repairs
We offer routine hearing aid cleanings (in-person or drop-off) as well as hearing aid repair services
(in-person or drop-off) even if you did not purchase your hearing aids from our clinic. If your hearing aids have not been working, don't just throw them in a drawer...bring them in to our office and we will get them cleaned up and evaluate what may be needed to get them in good working order for you! We also offer hearing aid re-programming if your hearing aids are working, but need a little "tune-up" to get you hearing better.
Ear Wax Removal
While ear wax has it's purpose - to clean and protect the skin of your ear canal from dust, debris, bacteria or other foreign materials, there are times you may have too much which results in an ear wax build-up. Never attempt to clean your ears with a Q-tip or ear candle as these methods actually cause more harm to your ear. Our office has specialized tools and Dr. Klatt has experience safely cleaning ear wax from your ears - without the use of water. If you feel your ears are plugged up or your hearing may be decreased from an ear wax build-up, call our office today for a painless ear cleaning appointment.
